Apsit (Apsitis) Alexander Petrovich

1880 born in Riga.
Became a graphic artist.
1898-1899 studied at the Dmitriev - Kavkazsky studio in St. Petersburg.
Until 1920 in St Petersburg and Moscow.
1902-1907 drew illustrations for magazines such as "Rodina", "Zvazda" and "Niva", for a book of Russian classics, caricatures for satirical magazines ("Dukh vremeni" and others) and advertising posters.
1903 participated in exhibitions.
1906-1917 co-operated with the Moscow publishers, I. Sytin and P.Stupin.
1918 one of the founders and leading masters of the Soviet political revolutionary poster.
1921 moved to Latvia where he drew for several Riga magazines.
1944 died in Germany
