Born 7th April 1905 in Romanovka, Samarslaya prov and became a graphic artist.

Became a member of the Soviet Artists of USSR and an honoured worker of the Arts of RSFSR.

1929 finished at the art studio of the professor D.N. Kardovskogo in Moscow.

From 1931 lived and worked in Leningrad. During the Second World War became one of organisers and authors of "The Fighting pencil Series".

In post-war years illustrated Russian Classics and Soviet literature

His works now are in The Trietiakov Gallery, The Russian State Museum and other museums.

In 1971 wrote a monograph about the creativity of Astapov.

Died in 1982.
